The bulk of this collection consists of Ann Scott's working papers: research notes, manuscripts of several children's books, correspondence with her publishers, and materials of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Other materials include some of her personal correspondence, including that from William Scott while an undergraduate and from her father, Henry L. Herbert while in the service during World War I; and college records. William's papers include letters to his parents while he was a student at Haverford College, a college yearbook, a notebook from his sabbatical year at Yale University, and a scrapbook of his trip to Europe following college graduation.

William Taussig Scott (1916-1999) and his wife, Ann Herbert Scott lived in Reno, Nevada, between 1961-1995. William taught physics and philosophy of science at the University of Nevada, Reno, from 1961-1981 and conducted research in cloud physics at the Desert Research Institute from 1965-1975.
